Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness. Our nation is somewhat sad, but were angry. Theres a certain level of blood lust, but we wont let it drive our reaction. Were steady, clear-eyed and patient, but pretty soon well have to start displaying scalps. We know that dictators are quick to choose aggression, while free nations strive to resolve differences in peace. role of the military is to fight and win war and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place. If this were a dictatorship, itd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as Im the dictator. I think war is a dangerous place. If we dont stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, were going to have a serious problem coming down the road. Victory means exit strategy, and its important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is. About the quote : The future president said this in regard to Kosovo in April 1 Our enemies are innovative and never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we. Evil men, obsessed with ambition and unburdened by conscience, must be taken very seriously-and we must stop them before their crimes can multiply. About the quote : from the Presidents Veterans Day Speech 11/11/0 Free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations dont attack each other. Free nations dont develop weapons of mass destruction. I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, were really talking about peace. About the quote : From a speech at the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development in Wash. DC, 6/18/0 These people are trying to shake the will of the Iraqi citizens, and they want us to think the world would be better off if we did George W. Bush on Iraqi Insurgency What experience and history teach is thisthat people and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it. Dictators have always played on the natural human tendency to blame others and to oversimplify. A great war leaves the country with three armies an army of cripples, an army of mourners, and an army of thieves. The only defensible war is a war of defense. A man who says that no patriot should attack the war until it is saying no good son should warn his mother of a cliff until she has fallen.
