The mysteries of pittsburgh kiss

The mysteries of pittsburgh kiss

I went to SonyStyle, created an account, waited a few minutes and then went back to the Sony-provided URL. When asked for my credentials, I entered my new SonyStyle name and password, and THEN I was allowed to enable the internet features at MY ESSENTIALS. From there, you have to go to Amazon s and Netflix s Web sites and activate your Sony BD unit. Once that is done a pleasure by comparison to the Sony sites and service, your BD player is ready for use. I live in an the mysteries of pittsburgh kiss unserved by a major cable company. Our internet service is delivered by our local community cable company and the best downstream connection I can get is 5Mbps sustained. On a computer this has proven to be plenty fast enough to watch Hulu at the highest resolution or Netflix streaming at high quality. However, on the BD unit, the Netflix video appears far blockier than on any computer I own, and it starts and stops frequently, presumably because of insufficient built-in buffer. I am not expecting real-time HD, but I am expecting something better than an early 2000s QuickTime postage-stamp size movie. So, I took one star away from my original three-star review for three reasons: 1 Sony s customer support is not supportive, nor cares enough about the customer to actually READ the content of an email and respond with useful information. Customer service IS part of a product s promise, so it is valid to review. 2 The internet features seem hampered by insufficient buffer. 3 After a week, I have come to dislike the physical design for functional reasons. There is no EJECT button on the remote, which baffles me. And the faceplate is of the flimsy flip-down variety in that old smoked plexiglass kind of way! to conceal the loading slot/tray. The faceplate is the mysteries of pittsburgh kiss on the edge of catching the disc tray, but not because of intentional precision design work, but because the faceplate doesn t flip ALL the way out of the way. I give Sony credit for inventing the Blu-Ray format in the first place as it is amazing. But, I am inclined to agree with another reviewer here that Sony appears to have given up on consumer electronics and is quite unable to turn their inventions into products that demand or deserve premium pricing and customer respect. This is such a great product. Video quality is just perfect. I connected an ethernet cable to the blu-ray and now I can watch HD streaming from Netflix! Love it. I ve been using this player for about 4 weeks. It is attached to a Samsung UN40B7000 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV and directly to my 100 MBps router via ethernet cable. No Home Theater setup so won t comment on audio experience. 1 OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc Player with SACD DVD-Audio, PlayStation 3 120 GB. LG BD 390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player or Sony N-460? Oppo s player was my dream system but too expensive yet. I had then considered the PS However, the N-460 seems to perform as well or slightly better and I really did not want to spend 100 on a device that offered gaming functionality I would not use. The N-460 is silent and designed to play and stream movies. If you don t need the gaming capability just go for the N-4 My second choice for the 200 budget was LG s BD390 but I was turned-off by several consistent negative reviews about defective units. Sony is not perfect either but I placed my bets on the Sony unit and I did not regret. I have seen several Blu-ray movies with the device so far. Be aware that the movie quality does the mysteries of pittsburgh kiss your whole experience and no Blu-ray player can make-up for a badly filmed/transcoded/produced movie.
